One of the top super middleweight pro boxers in Australia, Bilal Akkawy was almost able to reach the top of world boxing last May 2019. He competed against John Ryder from the United Kingdom for the WBA World Super Middleweight title in Las Vegas, Nevada but lost via TKO.
Before this only loss of his career, the 26-year old boxer from New South Wales was unbeaten in 21 bouts except for 1 draw. He knocked out his opponent on 16 occasions and won four championships in his 9-year pro boxing career.
Bilal’s collection of belts includes the WBF Australasian Super Middleweight title he won in 2014, the IBO World Youth Super Middleweight championship in 2015, the OPBF Silver Super Middleweight title in 2016, and the WBA Oceania Super Middleweight championship in 2016 and 2017. He also defended the WBA Oceania title successfully in 2018.
