Cherneka “Sugar Neekz” Johnson is a bantamweight pro boxer born in New Zealand and currently residing in Melbourne, Victoria. As an amateur boxer, Sugar Neekz represented Australia in four world championships and was able to travel to countries like China, Turkey, and Bulgaria. Cherneka also had the chance to train for the Olympics trial at the flyweight division. She had more than 60 fights before turning pro and signing with Hosking Promotions.
She made her professional debut in April 2016 with an impressive TKO win and has since got twelve straight victories. She currently holds a dominant 13-0 record, 6 via way of knockout. Aside from her unbeaten record, Sugar Neekz has also bagged two championships belts, including the WBA Oceania Female Bantamweight Title and the Women’s IBA World Bantamweight Title.
She won the vacant WBA Oceania belt in December 2017 after beating Gretel de Paz via unanimous decision. In March 2018, she retained the title and won the Women’s IBA World Bantamweight Title at the same time after knocking out Rungnapha Kaewkrachang. Cherneka went on to win another 4 bouts afterwards, including the one in December 2019 Nurshahidah Roslie of Singapore via unanimous decision.
