An up and coming Australian pro boxing star, Francis Chua is set to dominate the lightweight division on both domestic and international levels. In just 3 years of pro boxing career, he has already won 7 out of 8 bouts and was able to beat the WBO #2 Kye MacKenzie in November 2018. However, he lost in their rematch that could have given his first lightweight championship.
In January 2020, Chua re-signed with Dragon Fire Boxing as he aims for championships in the next years of his career. The Perth boxer has had some good opportunities so far under the guidance of boxing head Tony Tolj and he’s looking forward to more big fights, particularly on a MacKenzie-Chua trilogy. It has yet to be determined if the third match against Kye will happen.
Meanwhile, Chua has a great task ahead of him as he agreed with WBC terms to fight Vietnamese fighter Nguyen Van Hai in May 2020 in Manila for the WBC Australasia Lightweight Title. This is a huge opportunity for Chua as the Australasian title can serve as a springboard for even bigger bouts.
